THE WESTERN CANON produced by Minted Nude is an artistic reconsideration of Harold Bloom’s literature survey The Western Canon. Mira Mariah’s interpretation of Bloom’s critique of western narrative literature poses a layered absurdity of era, figuration, and western depictions of femininity. The works accepts a literal and conceptual thread running through time and connecting all literature and story. Mariah’s chalk covered watercolors allude to mythology, myth, and feminine experience to explore the simultaneous existence of privacy and collective storytelling and story of origin.
