Use your resources! You have been an artist your  whole life! Every item you have collected and treasured is there waiting to inspire you. Abandoned projects are tucked into boxes in your home and studio. They can be unraveled and reimagined at any time. You can finish projects from the point they’re on. You can learn a new perspective and decide otherwise unfinished projects are actually completed and ready to see the world.

All those conversation you have had about art amongst artists and non artists has stored bundles of ideas and solutions to problems in the back of your mind! Those idea are waiting to be retrieved and realised. While you’re realizing those ideas, think about what you have already done in the spirit of those ideas. 

Use your resources begs artists to be solution oriented when considering restraints like time and space and money, through the simplest most inspiring advice…

USE YOUR RESOURCES!!

What are resources? Your influences, tools, friends, space, body, money, time, faith… how can you maintain these resources? How can you honor them? How can you decide which ones to monetize? 

Your diaries are likely your greatest resource in art making. 

Borrowing from your past and future self is important for creating folklore through your work. If your work has refracted bits of all the art you’ve ever made scattered throughout it, you’re world building. You’re inviting someone into your world, instead of keeping them on the outside and asking them to judge it. 

So to you my artist friends… 

You know the unfinished art project in your basement? You know that half baked idea that you’ve daydreamed about for years, or bought the supplies for but never got them to the end? I want to invite you to complete and actualize that idea in a group show for the opening. But I need it like in a week sorry.
